Am Freitag, 27. Juni wird die Jazzwoche Berlin #7 feierlich eröffnet. Neben vielfältigen musikalischen Acts und diskursiven Elementen gibt es auch Gelegenheit zum Austausch zwischen den Akteur*innen der Szene, der Politik und Verwaltung und dem Publikum.

Der Eintritt ist frei.
Die Teilnahme an der Eröffnung ist für Kinder in Begleitung einer erziehungsbeauftragten Person gestattet im Rahmen des Jugendschutzgesetzes. Wir empfehlen, einen altersgerechten Gehörschutz mitzubringen.

Carla Boregas - keys, electronics
Carla Boregas und M.Takara, beide namhafte Mitglieder der brasilianischen Musikszene, spielen seit 2018 als Duo. Im Zusammenklang von Schlagzeug und Synthesizern verbindet ihre gemeinsame Musik Boregas' ätherische und warme Elektronik mit Takaras jazziger, improvisierter Percussion, irgendwo zwischen abstrakter Improvisation und treibendem Rhythmus.

Wo stehen wir aktuell - und wohin geht es von hier aus - im Kulturbetrieb, aber auch gesamtgesellschaftlich betrachtet? Warum ist es wichtig, Orte für Kunst zu bewahren; wie kann dies gelingen? Was ist das Besondere an Jazz in Berlin? Wie profitiert die Stadt von dieser Musik? Wie profitiert die Gesellschaft von Kultur im Allgemeinen? Warum ist es wichtig, Diversität in Kunst und Kultur zu fördern? Was ist die Rolle der Freien Szene, was ist die der Institutionen?

Yeah, About That - Das ist ein neues high-energy Trio, dessen Sound irgendwo zwischen Fusion Jazz und Neo-Soul Grooves zuhause ist. Bestehend aus drei der gefragtesten Musiker*innen der Berliner Szene gibt die Formation jedem ihrer Mitglieder den Raum, ihren Ideen freien Lauf zu lassen und das Publikum mit virtuosen Improvisationen anzustecken.

Der Kontrabassist Antonio Borghini legt sein Hauptaugenmerk auf die Arbeit im Kollektiv und darauf, gemeinsame Strategien zu entwickeln für die Verbindung von Kompositionen, Worten und Bewegungen. Das Banquet of Consequences ist eines seiner Projekte, mit dem er “das Mysterium des Miteinanders feiern” möchte. “Diese Musik ist den Musiker*innen gewidmet, die lächeln, wenn wir von ihnen stehlen.” sagt Borghini.

Carla Boregas and M.Takara, both renowned members of the Brazilian music scene, have been playing as a duo since 2018. In the harmony of drums and synthesizers, their joint music combines Boregas' ethereal and warm electronics with Takara's jazzy, improvised percussion, somewhere between abstract improvisation and driving rhythm.

Yeah, About That - This is a new high-energy trio whose sound is somewhere between fusion jazz and neo-soul grooves. Double bassist Antonio Borghini's main focus is on working collectively and developing joint strategies for combining compositions, words and movements. The Banquet of Consequences is one of his projects with which he wants to ‘celebrate the mystery of togetherness’. ‘This music is dedicated to the musicians who smile when we steal from them,’ says Borghini.
